Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku today (8 May) said authorities are alert to prevent extortion at cattle markets and during livestock transport ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after inaugurating the final match of Notun Kuri Sports at Shaheed Maruf Stadium in Tangail this afternoon.
Tuku said necessary measures have already been taken to ensure the smooth and corruption-free management of cattle markets.
He said the country has an adequate supply of livestock to meet Eid demand, adding that there is no need to import sacrificial animals from abroad this year.
The state minister further said veterinary doctors will be deployed at all cattle markets to ensure proper animal healthcare services and effective market management.
He also said strict monitoring has been intensified to prevent the illegal entry of cattle, with law enforcement agencies and border authorities kept on alert.
