The Bangladesh parliament secretariat will receive a budget allocation of Tk 290.60 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with Tk 289.90 crore earmarked for operational expenditure and Tk 70 lakh for development expenditure.
The decision was taken at the 37th meeting of the parliament secretariat commission held today (29 April) at parliament building with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad in the chair.
Prime Minister and leader of the House Tarique Rahman, leader of the Opposition Dr Shafiqur Rahman, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, and, by special invitation, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni were present at the meeting.
The meeting approved the revised budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year for the Bangladesh parliament secretariat.
For FY 2025-2026, a total of Tk 226.69 crore was approved, including Tk 226.49 crore for operational expenditure and Tk 20 lakh for development expenditure.
At the outset, the meeting confirmed the minutes of the 36th Commission meeting and reviewed the implementation progress of its decisions. Discussions were also held on the progress of ongoing projects under the parliament secretariat.
The agenda was presented by Secretary of the parliament secretariat, Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan.
Senior officials of the parliament secretariat and relevant ministries attended the meeting.
