Police have arrested 12 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League over a flash procession by its allies in Chattogram’s Kotwali area.
In a press release today (25 April), Chattogram Metropolitan Police said the arrests were made in separate drives from yesterday after the procession until this afternoon.
The arrestees were identified as Tanvir Hasan, 27, Moslem Uddin, 40, Bipu Ghosh Bilu, 55, Nahid Hossain, 19, Saiful Islam, 20, Nawsher Uddin Chowdhury, 21, Jewel, 24, Alal, 21, Asif, 22, Shubho Rahman, 22, Sourav Dewanji, 29, and Imam Hossain Sadman, 22.
According to police, a flash procession was brought out in front of Railway Public High School under Kotwali Police Station yesterday by the banned student and affiliate organisations of AL.
Confirming the matter, Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Aftab Uddin said cases have been filed against the accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act and they have been sent to court.
