Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the government has decided to recruit five lakh employees in the public sector.
He made the announcement today (15 April) while responding to questions during a parliamentary session.
Replying to a question from Pabna-2 lawmaker Md Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, the prime minister said the recruitment process is part of a broader plan to strengthen public administration.
He noted that efforts are already underway to fill vacant posts.
“Specifically, the recruitment of 2,879 personnel is currently in progress under the Ministry of Public Administration and its affiliated departments and agencies,” he said.
Responding to another query, the prime minister said all ministries and divisions have formulated action plans based on a 180-day programme to implement commitments outlined in the government’s election manifesto.
Tarique added that significant progress has already been made in implementing these plans.
