The United States will continue supporting Bangladesh in road safety, modern transport systems and sustainable infrastructure development, US Ambassador Brent T Christensen has said.
The US envoy made the remarks during a courtesy call with Road Transport and Bridges, Shipping and Railways Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam at the Secretariat today (12 April), says a press release.
The meeting discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly ongoing development activities in Bangladesh’s road, rail and waterways sectors and prospects for future cooperation.
During the meeting, the minister said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is working to develop a modern, safe and sustainable transport system.
He expressed hope for potential US investment and technical support in the sector.
The US ambassador welcomed the current government and expressed commitment to advancing Bangladesh’s transport sector through stronger cooperation, increased investment and exchange of technical knowledge.
Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Mohammed Ziaul Haque was present at the meeting.
