South Korea will provide a $3.63 million grant, approximately Tk45.12 crore, for the “Advanced Project of Rolling Stock Operation and Management in Bangladesh”, for which the Government of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea signed the Record of Discussion and Terms of Reference today (7 April), according to a press release.
The project will be implemented by Bangladesh Railway under the Ministry of Railways.
The main objective of the project is to enhance the safety and transportation capacity of Bangladesh Railway through the improvement of its infrastructure and capabilities.
Mirana Mahrukh, Additional Secretary and Wing Chief (Asia, JEC and F&F), Economic Relations Division (ERD), signed the documents on behalf of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, while Seok-gi Kim, Assistant Minister for Infrastructure Affairs at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, signed on behalf of the Republic of Korea.
