Former parliament speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has been taken to a Dhaka court after her arrest in connection with an attempted murder case filed over the killing of one Ashraful during the 2024 July Uprising in Lalbagh.
Police brought her to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at around 1:55pm today (7 April).
She was later kept in the court’s lock-up, with a hearing on her arrest to be held shortly before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana, according to Acting Officer-in-Charge of the court lock-up Md Morshed.
Earlier in the day, detectives arrested Shirin Sharmin from Dhanmondi in the capital in a case filed with Lalbagh Police Station.
