The government is set to release the names of the top 20 loan defaulters of the country in parliament today (6 April), as part of efforts to enhance transparency and address rising concerns over defaulted loans.
The total amount of non-performing loans (NPLs) in the banking sector stood at Tk5,44,831.88 crore at the end of December 2025, according to the transcript of Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury’s answer for today’s question-and-answer session.
The minister is set to give the written answer in the House in response to a question from Cumilla-4 MP Md Abul Hasnat, the National Citizen Party leader who is popularly known as Hasnat Abdullah.
