Authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka seized an unauthorised drone in the VIP area last night (4 April), citing a major violation of aviation safety regulations.
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone was intercepted around 8:37pm while it was being used to film the arrival of Saff Championship players in front of the VIP Pole Gate, officials said.
Preliminary investigations revealed the drone was being operated without prior permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
Under the Drone Registration and Operation Policy 2020, airport areas are strictly designated as “Red Zones,” where drone flight is prohibited without special authorisation from relevant authorities.
Airport officials confirmed that necessary legal action will be taken to ensure the overall security of the facility. They also urged the public to strictly comply with existing regulations and avoid operating drones in sensitive areas.
