Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested four Rohingyas allegedly involved in a human trafficking ring from the Motijheel area of the capital.
The arrestees were identified as Md Ferdous, Nuru Bibi Dur Akhtar, Umme Kulsum and a minor, a DMP release said today (3 April).
DMP Assistant Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Arifa Akhter Preeti confirmed the matter.
“Around 2pm yesterday (2 April), a team from the DB Cyber and Special Crime (South) division conducted a raid at a hotel in Motijheel based on a secret tip-off and arrested them,” she said.
During the operation, authorities recovered four mobile phones used for human trafficking and two photocopies of visas.
A regular case has been filed at Motijheel Police Station against the arrested individuals.
DB sources further stated that during preliminary interrogation, the suspects admitted to being involved in human trafficking for a long time.
They have been sent to the court for further legal action, the official added.
