At least 298 people have been killed in road accidents across the country during the 15 days of Eid travel this year, according to a report by the Road Safety Foundation.
Among them, 46 were women and 67 were children.
In a statement today (2 April), the organisation said the deaths occurred between 14 March and 28 March, during which 373 road accidents were reported nationwide.
According to the report, Chattogram division recorded the highest number of accidents and fatalities, with 74 people killed in 93 accidents while in Barishal division 12 people lost their lives.
The report also noted that 249 people were killed in road accidents during the 11-day Eid-ul-Fitr travel period last year.
The report is compiled by the foundation from 9 national dailies, 17 online news portals, electronic media, and internal sources.
