The government has appointed full-time administrators to 14 more district councils, bringing the total number of such appointments to 56 in two phases.
The Local Government Division issued a gazette notification today (31 March) appointing administrators to district councils in Dhaka, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Pabna, Narail, Barguna, Jamalpur, Gazipur, Manikganj, Narsingdi, Faridpur, Habiganj, Chandpur and Feni.
Earlier, on 15 March, administrators were appointed to 42 district councils, most of whom were affiliated with the BNP.
Among the newly appointed administrators, Md Yasin Ferdous Murad has been assigned to Dhaka, Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury to Nilphamari, AKM Mominul Haque to Lalmonirhat, Mohammad Zahurul Islam to Pabna, Md Mostafizur Rahman Alek to Narail, Md Nazrul Islam Molla to Barguna, Md Sirajul Haque to Jamalpur, and Chowdhury Ishrat Ahmad Siddiqui to Gazipur.
In addition, Jamilur Rashid Khan has been appointed to Manikganj, Tofazzal Hossain to Narsingdi, Md Afzal Hossain Khan Palash to Faridpur, Ahmed Ali to Habiganj, AKM Salim Ullah Selim to Chandpur, and Professor MA Khalek to Feni.
According to the notification, they will serve as full-time administrators until further notice.
They will exercise the powers and perform the duties of the chairmen of the respective district councils and will receive allowances and other benefits in accordance with existing rules.
