Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today (30 March) said those who carried out armed attacks against the people during the July Uprising regardless of the uniform of any force, along with the Awami terrorist group, Jubo League, and Chhatra League are all criminals.
“Cases have been filed against them. If not, you can file them. And all cases will be properly investigated. It is the responsibility of the judiciary to judge,” he said in response to a supplementary question from BNP MP Zainul Abdin Farooq in the Parliament.
In response to a supplementary question from BNP MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui, the minister said that during the Awami League government’s tenure from 2009 to 2024 until the uprising, all cases of disappearances, false political cases and cases of disappearances, murders, kidnappings and injustices committed against the people of this country, some members of the police force carried out the orders of the then fascist government.
He said that some cases were withdrawn during the tenure of the interim government.
“As the first thing we did after assuming office, we withdrew some cases. A number of false cases filed against people of different classes and professions, including the government party, opposition parties and other political activists, journalists, have been withdrawn after scrutiny and selection,” he said.
The minister said that after the BNP government took office, committees led by the District Magistrate have been formed at the district level. Applications can be made to that committee to withdraw all the cases that were politically motivated from 2009 to 2024.
“The committee will select and send it to the ministry. Then, according to the advice given by the committee formed under the leadership of the law minister, measures will be taken to withdraw the cases according to CrPC 494,” he said.
