Five people were arrested following a flash procession by the banned Awami League in the capital’s Agargaon this morning (26 March).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) assistant commissioner of the Tejgaon zone, Akkas Ali, confirmed the incident to The Business Standard.
The arrested individuals are Md Hasan Ali, 43; Zisan Ahmed, 39; Md Raisul Islam Manik, 42; Md Faruk Islam, 36; and Ashik Mohammed, 24.
According to the DMP official, the rally, which began at 9:30am near the BTRC building, involved around 15–20 members of the banned party.
When the group reached the area in front of IDB Bhaban, patrolling officers intervened and detained five individuals, Akkas said.
“Legal action is being taken against those detained,” the DMP official added.
