Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (26 March) paid homage to his parents- former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia- on the occasion of the 56th Independence and National Day.
After returning from the National Memorial in Savar, the Prime Minister visited their graves at Zia Udyan at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka.
He first laid wreaths at the graves as Prime Minister, paying tribute to them.
Later, as BNP Chairman, he, along with cabinet members and senior party leaders, placed wreaths at the graves.
They also offered fathea and took part in a munajat, praying for the souls of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, as well as for the well-being of the country and its people.
