The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special traffic instructions for commuters across the capital on the occasion of the Independence Day to be observed tomorrow (26 March).
The instructions were issued today (25 March) through a public notice signed by DMP acting commissioner Md Sarwar.
For the morning Independence Day parade, scheduled from 10am to 12:30pm, DMP has restricted vehicle movement from 7am to 12:30pm around National Parade Square.
Roads affected include Begum Rokeya Sarani from Agargaon light crossing to Urojahaj crossing, Bir Uttom Major General Azizur Rahman Road, and Syed Mahbub Morshed Road from Shishu Mela to Agargaon crossing.
Regular traffic will be diverted via alternative routes, including Jahangir Gate, Lake Road, Mirpur Road, Khejur Bagan, and Bijoy Sarani, depending on the origin of vehicles.
An afternoon courtesy meeting with the president will take place at Bangabhaban from 4pm to 5:30pm, attended by the prime minister, ministers, foreign diplomats, and senior officials.
As a result, vehicle movement will be restricted from 2pm to 5:30pm along Abrar Fahad Avenue, DIT Road, Fazle Rabbi Road, and Dilkusha Road.
Alternative routes have been designated via UBL Crossing, Zero Point, Shapla Chattar, Dainik Bangla, and Golap Shah Mazar intersection, ensuring minimal disruption for non-event traffic.
In the evening, a concert at Manik Mia Avenue from 6pm to 11:30pm will close the avenue from Aarong crossing to Khejur Bagan crossing from 5pm.
Vehicles will be rerouted via Lake Road, Urojahaj crossing, Mirpur Road, and Ganabhaban crossing.
