Five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed at the traditional Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj to ensure security and maintain law and order during the Eid congregation.
Lt Col Touhidul Bari, commander of the Netrokona Battalion (31 BGB), confirmed the matter on today (20 March).
“Five platoons of BGB have been deployed to maintain security and law and order during the Eid Jamaat. On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the 199th Eid Jamaat will be held at 10am tomorrow like every year,” said a BGB release signed by him.
He further said that BGB members will perform their duties relentlessly, including creating a security cordon around the Eidgah Maidan and surrounding areas in coordination with the district administration and other law enforcement agencies, according to the release.
The devotees coming to the Eid Jamaat have been prohibited from using any route other than the designated entrance, and from carrying any kind of bag, sharp weapons or anything suspicious, the release added.
He also expressed hope that the large Eid congregation will be completed in a smooth, peaceful and secure environment with the combined efforts of BGB and other forces.
