With Eid-ul-Fitr approaching, major recreational centres across Chattogram are stepping up preparations, expecting a surge in visitors seeking family outings and leisure activities during the holidays.
Authorities at Foy’s Lake, Patenga Sea Beach, Sea World Water Park, Basecamp Adventure Park, Chattogram Zoo, Fouzdarhat DC Park and Wonderland Shishu Park said special arrangements had been made, particularly targeting families and children.
The zoo remains a key attraction. Home to around 520 animals, including Bengal tigers, white tigers, lions, crocodiles, kangaroos, zebras and hippopotamuses, it is expected to draw nearly 70,000 visitors during Eid, according to Deputy Curator Shahadat Hossain Shuvo.
Entry tickets are priced at Tk70 per person.
Officials said ongoing boundary expansion work was likely to further increase visitor capacity in the future.
The adjoining amusement park has lined up a wide range of rides, including Tornado 360, Airborne Shot, Flying Bus, Sky Hopper, bumper cars, a family roller coaster, a pirate ship and a Ferris wheel.
For younger visitors, attractions such as Happy Jump, Pony Adventure and Circus Train will be available. Boating facilities, including engine boats and paddle boats, will also operate on the lake.
At Sea World Water Park, water-based attractions such as wave pools, multi-slides, dome slides and dedicated children’s zones have been readied.
Meanwhile, Basecamp Adventure Park is offering activities like archery, climbing walls and treetop challenges.
Among all destinations, Patenga Sea Beach is expected to witness the heaviest footfall.
Tourist Police Inspector Md Hasan Imam said law enforcement agencies, including local police, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Detective Branch, would remain deployed to ensure visitors’ safety.
Help desks and mobile teams would also be active along the beach, he added.
Two more spots – Fouzdarhat DC Park and Karnaphuli Riverview – are also expected to draw a significant number of visitors during the holidays.
The district administration said special arrangements had been put in place, including expanded children’s play zones and the addition of a zip line across the lake to enhance the visitor experience.
City authorities and park operators said final preparations were now underway, with a focus on crowd management and safety, as Chattogram’s popular leisure spots brace for another busy Eid season.
