Traffic movement at the Padma Bridge area remained normal on the second day of Eid travel, with vehicles moving smoothly and no major congestion reported.
Since this morning (18 March), vehicles have been moving smoothly on the bridge and its connecting roads.
No major traffic congestion has been reported, allowing passengers to reach their destinations.
However, due to a shortage of vehicles, passengers have been waiting for hours at the Padma Bridge North Police Station. Many are travelling to their destinations by truck.
Officer-in-Charge of Padma North Police Station, Syed Md Akter Hossain, said traffic on the Dhaka-Mawa highway at the Padma Bridge area remains normal.
“Law enforcement agencies are active to ensure passenger safety and prevent any untoward incidents or harassment,” he added.
According to sources, the vehicle’s speed remains normal, with no excessive pressure on the bridge. Law enforcement and traffic management have also been strengthened.
Although there was pressure on the highway, no traffic jams were observed. At the Padma Bridge toll plaza, seven toll booths for large vehicles and three for motorcycles are operating separately, enabling quick toll collection.
Passengers said they were able to complete their journeys without major difficulties.
