Police have begun using portable signal lights to manage road traffic, aiming to enhance discipline and ease congestion on busy streets.
The initiative involves low-cost signal devices developed entirely with local technology, which authorities believe will play a positive role in improving traffic flow, reads a press release issued today (17 March) by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said the portable signal lights are easy to carry and can be deployed on any road.
As part of an initial rollout, the Highway Police have started installing these devices at selected locations, he added.
He further added that the introduction of such portable signal lights is part of an innovative approach to traffic management and is expected to contribute positively to maintaining road discipline and reducing congestion.
