Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has stated that the government will work comprehensively day and night to build the nation that people expect.
“There has been no development in the country over the past 16 years,” he said today (16 March) at a gathering at the Dinajpur Circuit House grounds.
He added that he has plans for the country’s development and urged citizens to be patient in order to reap the benefits of progress.
Referring to memories of his maternal grandmother’s house, he outlined his development plans for the area.
The prime minister also mentioned that he would soon hold meetings with industrial factory owners across the country to discuss how establishing factories nationwide can drive development.
During this time, he pledged to create employment opportunities for the unemployed by setting up factories in Dinajpur.
Tarique Rahman noted that the government’s tenure has not yet completed a month, but work has already begun to fulfill electoral promises.
He highlighted initiatives such as waiving agricultural loans, distributing family cards, providing honorarium allowances to religious leaders, and starting canal excavation work.
He also said that Farmer’s Cards will be issued next month.
The prime minister revealed that the government plans to excavate 20,000 kilometers of canals.
He said this will address water-related problems across Dinajpur and the entire country, ensuring no water shortages for agricultural land.
He added that raising the underground water level will also help resolve arsenic contamination issues.
Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman distributed Black Bengal goats among underprivileged people as part of a government initiative aimed at rehabilitating those engaged in vagrancy and creating alternative employment opportunities.
The premier handed over 20 goats at a function at the Dinajpur Circuit House grounds under the “Rehabilitation and Alternative Employment Programme for People Engaged in Begging,” implemented by the Department of Social Services.
