The first session of the 13th parliament will continue until 30 April, with 50 hours set aside for discussion on the President Mohammed Shahabuddin’s address.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee today (14 March), according to a press release issued by the parliament secretariat.
The new parliament convened on Thursday (12 March), when President Shahabuddin delivered the customary opening speech.
Members of the Jamaat-led opposition alliance walked out during the address, calling him an “ally of fascists”.
After the first day’s proceedings, parliament was adjourned until 11am on Sunday (15 March).
Speaking after the committee’s meeting, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said parliament would sit again on 15 March before going into adjournment from 16 March.
It will sit again on 29 March and continue until 30 April, he added.
