The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives has warned the public about phone scams in which callers claim to be the state minister or his relatives.
Calls from the number 01826095318 reportedly promise personal or administrative favours to government officials, public representatives, and citizens, according to an official release.
The ministry stressed that neither the state minister nor his office makes such calls, adding that such acts are fraudulent and legally punishable. A General Diary (GD) has already been filed with the police, and necessary legal action is underway.
The public has been urged not to fall for such calls and to report any incidents immediately to the nearest law enforcement authorities.
