Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth Tk131 crore 19 lakh 72,000 in raids in border areas and other parts of the country in February 2026, the force said.
The seized items included:
- Gold: 1kg 169.72g
- Textiles and clothing: 10,878 saris; 4,920 three-piece sets/shirt pieces/chadars/blankets; 11,642 ready-made garments; 887 metres of thaan cloth
- Cosmetics and accessories: 413,489 cosmetics items; 2,464 pieces of imitation jewellery; 5,643 spectacles
- Fireworks: 1,883,545 pieces
- Wood and construction materials: 3,646 cubic feet of wood; 55,260 cubic feet of sand; 17,472kg of coal
- Food and agricultural items: 13,852kg of tea leaves; 8,474kg of betel nut; 29,477kg of cumin; 16,292kg of sugar; 33,870kg of onions; 1,204kg of garlic; 3,556 packets of seeds; 4,701kg of fertiliser; 2,392 packets of pesticides; 94,227 pieces of chocolate
- Electronics: 195 mobile phones; 4,928 mobile displays
- Livestock and other items: 638 cattle (cows/buffaloes); three stone statues
- Vehicles: eight trucks/covered vans; seven tractors; seven pickups; two private cars/microbuses; two trolleys; 29 CNG auto-rickshaws/easybikes; 34 motorcycles; 26 bicycles/vans
Recovered weapons and related items included 13 pistols (foreign and locally made), one rifle, 16 magazines, 160 rounds of ammunition, 16 cocktails, 82 electric detonators, 3kg of gunpowder, 24 other weapons, and 5kg of Indian chemical agents, BGB said.
BGB also reported seizures of narcotics and contraband items, including:
- 1,709,080 yaba tablets
- 2kg 268g heroin
- 2,199 bottles of phensedyl
- 1kg 244g crystal meth (ice)
- 6,458 bottles of foreign liquor
- 100 litres of local liquor
- 1,368 cans of beer
- 937kg 350g cannabis
- 161,853 packets of bidi cigarettes
- 212kg of bidi-making spices
- 199,054 narcotic tablets/injections
- 2,477 bottles of Escafe syrup
- 9,361 Anegra/Senegra tablets
- 250g cocaine
- 319,863 pieces of various medicines
BGB said it arrested 141 smugglers over drug trafficking (including yaba) and other contraband. It also detained 76 Bangladeshi nationals, two Indian nationals and 135 Myanmar nationals for illegal border crossings. Legal action has been taken, it added.
