A court here today (3 March) ordered the seizure of tax files of Jesmin Nahar Sanchita, wife of former assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Md Ziaur Rahman, over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), confirmed Riaz Hossain, assistant to the bench of the concerned court.
On behalf of the ACC, Assistant Director and investigating officer AKM Mortuza Ali Sagar filed an application seeking the seizure of her income tax documents.
The petition stated that the ACC filed a case on 1 December 2025, against Jesmin Nahar Sanchita on charges of acquiring and possessing assets worth Tk67.57 lakh beyond known sources of income and concealing information regarding assets worth Tk20.51 lakh.
“She is an income taxpayer. For the sake of a fair investigation of the case, it is essential to seize all relevant original records and information, including the permanent and miscellaneous sections of her income tax documents, from the beginning of her tax records up to the 2024-25 assessment year,” the petition added.
