The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved a chargesheet against 35 people, including former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his wife, Rukmila Zaman, former chairperson of United Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL), on charges of embezzling Tk23 crore.
They are accused of embezzling the money through fraudulent loans and laundering the money abroad from UCBL, said ACC Deputy Director Aktarul Islam confirming the development today (2 March).
According to the ACC, Saifuzzaman withdrew Tk23 crore from UCBL in the name of loans and laundered and misappropriated the money with the help of 34 associates.
