Former interim government adviser for youth and sports Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said he is prepared to accept punishment if any allegation against him is proven in connection with claims that cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was prevented from playing.
“A complaint has been lodged with the ACC by creating a mob over the issue of not allowing Shakib Al Hasan to play. If any allegation against me is proven by the ACC, I am ready to accept it,” said Asif, also the spokesperson of the National Citizen Party, while speaking to journalists after attending an iftar programme organised by his party at Shyampur in the capital today (27 February).
Asif’s remarks come after a group of Shakib Al Hasan’s supporters reportedly submitted a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against the former youth and sports adviser.
According to ACC sources, 20 to 30 people suddenly gathered at the commission’s office at noon yesterday, chanting slogans in support of Shakib, before submitting the complaint.
