State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam has announced that an anti-piracy operation in the Sundarbans will be launched shortly to ensure the security of the forest and the stability of the coastal areas.
“A coordinated operation will begin very soon,” the minister said after visiting the shrine of Khan Jahan Ali in Khulna’s Bagerhat today (21 February).
“The Sundarbans is a national asset and any form of piracy or terrorist activity in and around the forest will not be tolerated,” he added.
He further said a special plan has been developed in coordination with law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities to protect forest resources as well as ensure the safety of fishermen and local residents.
