A fire broke out at a fish wholesale market in Karwan Bazar in the capital on Monday night (16 February).
Five firefighting units from different stations reached the scene at 10:46pm and began efforts to bring the blaze under control.
Fire Service control room duty officer Shahjahan Hossain confirmed the incident.
He said the cause of the fire could not be determined immediately, adding that there were no confirmed reports of casualties.
As of filing this report, three more units from the fire service are en route to the scene as the fire spread to several establishment including wood shops.
