Three buses have caught fire on three consecutive nights in Dhaka’s Dhamrai, with the latest incident involving a passenger bus in the Sharifbagh area early this morning (8 November).

According to Fire Service sources, the fire broke out around 3:40am in an old D-Link Paribahan bus parked in front of Afaz Uddin College in Sharifbagh. The bus was used to transport workers of Snowtex Garments from Nabinagar.

Two firefighting units, led by Dhamrai Fire Station Officer Al Amin Khan, brought the blaze under control. The incident caused an estimated Tk2 lakh in damage to the bus.
The Fire Service suspects that the bus was deliberately set on fire as an act of sabotage.
The bus is owned by Lutfor Rahman and bears the registration number Dhaka Metro-Ja-14-2478.
Earlier, a bus belonging to Pavel Paribahan caught fire on Thana Road in Dhamrai on Thursday night. The following night, another bus operated by Palli Seba Paribahan caught fire in the Srirampur area along the Dhaka-Aricha Highway.
The Fire Service had reported a combined loss of Tk5 lakh and the recovery of goods worth Tk9 lakh in those two incidents.
With the latest incident, three buses have caught fire in Dhamrai over three consecutive nights.
Dhamrai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nazmul Huda Khan said three buses had caught fire in the area over the past three days.
“After yesterday’s incident, we advised bus owners to keep their vehicles in safe places and ensure they were guarded or under surveillance. Despite that, another bus parked outside caught fire,” he said.
