An abandoned staff bus belonging to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), parked inside the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office in the capital’s Segunbagicha area, caught fire today (6 November).
Employees at the office immediately brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading.
The incident occurred around 1:35pm, said Sheikh Zahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of police (Ramna Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Speaking to The Business Standard, he said the fire broke out in an abandoned NBR staff bus parked inside the divisional commissioner’s office premises.
Police initially suspect that a discarded cigarette butt may have caused the fire. However, they are examining CCTV footage to determine whether there was any other cause, the police official said.
