Three petrol bombs were thrown at two government offices — the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) and the Chandgaon Land Circle Office — in Chattogram’s Sholoshahar area yesterday evening (5 November).
The bombs were thrown around 7:30pm. Police later recovered fragments of all three from the scene. No casualties or damage were reported.
Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque confirmed the incident to The Business Standard.
A cleaner at the LGED office said two petrol bombs were thrown towards the LGED premises and the third in front of the land circle office. The two petrol bombs thrown towards the LGED office fell from above and shattered.
The cleaner said they initially thought an object had fallen from an air conditioner and caused a fire at the base of the land office wall. On approaching the spot, they suspected it was a petrol bomb and informed the police.
“I visited the scene, and police personnel have been deployed in the area,” he added.
Asked whether anyone had been detained, the OC said the incident is under investigation and legal action would be taken against anyone found involved.
