Jonathan Frakes revealed how he became friends with Patrick Stewart.
A week after the legendary actor’s death, his co-star chatted with KTLA 5 Morning News, recalling an encounter with the late Patrick on the set of the Star Trek series.
“We were on our way down to the makeup trailer, and I recognized who this guy was, and we started talking about baseball and [Patrick said], ‘No, no, darling, cricket, cricket’s the sport,’ ” Jonathan said.
However, they “became fast friends,” and the veteran actor revealed that “We used to go to Dodger games.”
“He lived over there near the [Dodger] Stadium, and he became a major baseball fan,” Jonathan further recalled.
It is pertinent to mention here that the late actor starred in the 1987 sci-fi series as Captain Jean-Luc Picard while Jonathan portrayed Commander William Riker.
“I have acted with and directed him more than any other person I’ve ever worked with in my life because we did 182 episodes, then we did four movies, then we did three seasons of Picard. So I have a lot of Patrick with me in me,” the actor and director shared.
“My best note to Patrick always was, ‘Think faster,’ and he’d say, ‘Great, Johnny, perfect. That’s really good,” Jonathan further told the outlet.
For those unaware, Patrick Stewart died on October 29, 2026, in Los Angeles.
