One person was injured after two crude bombs exploded outside an AJR Parcel and Courier Service office in Mirpur-11 in the capital tonight (3 November).
The explosions took place around 8:30pm, when two unidentified individuals arrived on a motorcycle and hurled the bombs in front of the courier service office.
A staff member of the courier service was injured in the blasts. Locals rescued him and took him to a nearby hospital. His identity was not immediately known.
CCTV footage of the incident shows several sacks of parcels placed outside the office as employees were working. Two people on a motorcycle approached and threw the bombs. One exploded with a loud bang, filling the area with smoke.
A few seconds later, the second bomb exploded beside the parcels, setting them on fire and injuring the worker.
Confirming the incident, Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jalal Uddin said the attackers detonated two crude bombs outside the courier service office.
He said a similar bombing had taken place outside the same courier service previously.
Police suspect the incident may have stemmed from a business dispute, but the matter is under investigation, he added.
The injured person works as a day labourer at the courier service, the OC said.
Earlier in the afternoon, two crude bombs exploded in front of the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building on Pragati Sarani in Rampura around 4:45pm.
