Students in grades 3 to 10 across Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas will be able to visit the Bangladesh National Museum and other archaeological and historical sites in the capital free of charge from 1 January 2027 under a joint initiative by DSCC and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The programme will cover students from both public and private schools and is aimed at helping them learn about the country’s history, heritage and culture through direct experience.
The initiative was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions at Nagar Bhaban today (3 November).
Under the agreement, DSCC will arrange transportation, meals and security for participating students, while the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will organise guided tours, exhibition visits, quizzes, drawing competitions, essay contests and other educational activities through its relevant institutions.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, DSCC Administrator and freedom fighter Md Abdus Salam said the initiative would create opportunities for students to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s history and heritage.
He said the programme aimed to help develop patriotic, humane and culturally aware citizens by encouraging younger generations to engage with history and cultural practices.
