The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has fined Jomidari Bhoj, a restaurant in Dhaka’s Lalbagh area, Tk1 lakh for food safety violations.
The fine was imposed during a mobile court operation today (2 November), led by BFSA Executive Magistrate Kaniz Afroza.
BFSA Public Relations Officer Abul Hasnat confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
During the drive, the restaurant’s kitchen floor was found to be extremely dirty and unhygienic, he said.
Inspectors also found borhani, firni, meat and various spices stored without proper labels.
The restaurant authorities failed to produce several required documents, including a fire licence, restaurant registration certificate, premises licence, health certificates for food handlers and a water-testing certificate, Hasnat added.
The restaurant authorities admitted to the violations.
The mobile court imposed the Tk1 lakh fine under the Safe Food Act, 2013, which was collected immediately.
