The state has filed an application seeking a stay on the bail granted by the High Court to former MP and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman.
The matter is scheduled for a hearing before Appellate Division Chamber Judge Justice Md Rezaul Haque this afternoon (2 November).
Yesterday (1 November), the High Court bench led by Justice KM Zahid Sarwar granted bail to Akhtaruzzaman.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Akhtaruzzaman at his residence in the DOHS area of Dhaka Cantonment on the afternoon of 2 October.
The following day, a court granted police a one-day remand to question him.
After the remand, the court rejected his bail petition on 4 October and sent him to jail.
According to the case statement, tensions erupted at the airport on 1 October over alleged mismanagement, a shortage of luggage trolleys, delays in baggage delivery and the unavailability of Zamzam water.
The situation reportedly escalated into threats and confrontations.
Authorities later filed a case against Akhtaruzzaman, accusing him of creating disorder at the airport, obstructing government duties and harassing a security official.
