Garment workers once again blocked the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Gazipur’s Kaliakair and Konabari areas this morning (2 November), demanding higher wages despite the government’s formation of a wage board.
The workers took to the highway starting 7am, bringing traffic to a standstill and causing severe congestion and suffering for commuters.
Meanwhile, 10 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed at key points across Gazipur to address the ongoing labour unrest and maintain law and order.
