Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid today said the newly appointed officers must perform their duties with honesty, dedication and professionalism for best possible use of their intellect and skills.
He noted that the future of the nation depends on the decisions and sense of responsibility of these new officers to a large extent.
He made these remarks while addressing the newly joined officers of the 45th BCS (Fisheries and Livestock) cadre at a meeting at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
The minister mentioned that a government official’s career typically spans 25 to 32 years, providing them with ample time to contribute to the formulation and implementation of the policies. Inspired by patriotism, everyone must work together to build a better, safer and more liveable world for the future generations as well as a prosperous Bangladesh.
The minister further emphasised that in the production of safe food including fish, meat, milk and eggs the inputs used in the production process must also be safe. In particular, new officers must play an effective role in curbing the indiscriminate use of antibiotics within the fisheries and livestock sectors. The presence of the antibiotic residues in food, which enter the human body, increases the risk of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
Addressing the new officers, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku said that the success at every stage of life requires the struggle, perseverance and dedication. In their professional lives, officers must demonstrate their competence and qualifications and fulfil their responsibilities ethically, in line with the nation’s expectations.
He added that they must carry a spirit of patriotism in their hearts and work for the welfare of the country. Embracing Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s ‘Bangladesh First’ vision, they must strive to build a beautiful and prosperous country for future generations.
He further stressed that all laws and regulations must be strictly followed while carrying out official duties. He urged them to fulfil the public’s expectations by performing their duties in a systematic and disciplined manner.
Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Md Delwar Hossain, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Md Shahjaman Khan and the Director General of the Department of Fisheries Dr Md Khaled Kanak were present at the meeting, among others.
Besides, senior officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock as well as 25 newly joined officers from the Fisheries cadre and 21 from the Livestock cadre were also present there.
