Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, has said the youth must be developed as entrepreneurs, not just jobseekers as they represent a nation’s greatest strength.
“By harnessing their (youth) talent, courage, patriotism, and capacity for work, Bangladesh can grow stronger as a nation. Therefore, the youth must be nurtured to become entrepreneurs, rather than merely job seekers,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing as the chief guest at a discussion meeting held at the Lalmonirhat Zila Parishad Auditorium, organised to mark National Youth Day 2026,a PID press release said here this afternoon.
He emphasized the need to expand training opportunities to help the nation’s youth become skilled and self-reliant. Those who secure opportunities to work abroad must be adequately prepared through essential skills training.
To this end, the renovation and repair of existing youth training centers are crucial.
He said an initiative is underway to send 10,000 workers from Bangladesh to Malaysia, with the government covering the associated costs. Language proficiency is vital for employment abroad, he continued.
“However, working abroad requires knowledge of the host country’s language. Consequently, young people must be trained in various foreign languages,” Dulu said.
The minister urged the relevant authorities to take the necessary steps to foster self-confidence and productivity among the youth.
The event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat Muhammad Rashedul Haque Prodhan, with the welcome address delivered by Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development Md Abdus Salam Sikdar.
