The Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) has been downgraded to the ‘Z’ category from the existing ‘B’ category effective today (29 October), after failing to declare any dividend for two consecutive years.
The reclassification was made in line with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) directive issued in May 2024.
Following the category downgrade, the company’s share price plummeted by 4.94% to Tk32.70 on the bourse.
With this demotion, stockbrokers and merchant bankers have been requested to refrain from extending margin loan facilities for purchasing ICB shares starting today, as mandated by the BSEC Margin Rules 2025.
The development comes as the board of directors of the institution recommended no dividend for the financial year ended 30 June 2026. The company has scheduled its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 5 December, setting the record date for 18 November.
According to its latest financial performance reports, ICB posted a consolidated loss per share (EPS) of Tk7.52 for FY26, showing an improvement from a loss per share of Tk14 recorded in the previous fiscal year.
Its consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share stood at Tk30.26 as of 30 June 2026, down from Tk37.45 a year earlier. Meanwhile, its consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) dropped to Tk8.96 for FY26 from Tk10.31 reported in FY25.
