Kim Kardashian finally broke her silence on how her ex husband Kanye West’s mental health is one of the challenging parts in their coparenting journey.
The SKIMS founder, who shares daughters North, Chicago as well as sons Saint and Psalm with the rapper, revealed in her biography, Citizen Kim, her experience of dealing with Kanye’s mental health struggles while being the mom of his kids.
Kim shared that despite Kanye’s bipolar disorder it has never negatively impacted their children.
“That was such a blessing,” the doting mom shared.
Kim explained, “He would have a full episode, and the kids would never know because they would be almost a calming presence for him.
“So it was a fine balance of how do we keep them around? Or: Is it go-time?”
However, Kim remarked she is not hopeful for any betterment but still wants it for her kids.
“It does make me so sad. And I don’t think it’s going to get better. I pray it does. For my kids,” she noted.
Kim also opened up about Kanye’s scheduling issues and how she always tries to protect her kid’s dad’s image in front of them.
She added, “It is challenging coparenting with someone who comes by every few months.
“But I’m always like, ‘Oh, Dad’s traveling.’ I still make up stories and protect them because I want them to think their dad is the greatest. But I invite him over all the time.”
For those unaware Kanye was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder after he was hospitalized for a psychiatric emergency in 2016.
Kanye has even discussed the condition openly in his 2018 album Ye, and mentioned in the cover text, “I hate being bipolar. it’s awesome.”
