Catherine Zeta Jones admitted that she misses the old Hollywood days when stars used to have more privacy and fans had very little knowledge of their personal lives.
The 57-year-old Welsh actress opened up about what she likes and dislikes about the changes that have come with social media in the entertainment industry.
Catherine explained during an interview with Awards Buzz, “There was a wonderful thing about not knowing everything about actors – who they were waking up with in the morning, what they were eating, where they were shopping, what they were wearing…”
The Wednesday star continued, “And as much as social media has been a game changer on so many levels, it’s too much information. I don’t need to know, ‘Didn’t she just divorce her husband? Didn’t she have an affair with somebody?’
She further noted, “I don’t want to know that… It’s the mystique of movies and actors on television and people you go and sit for two and a half or three hours in the movie theatre to see.
“I don’t need all the information,” Catherine added.
However, one change in the industry that Catherine likes is that more women are taking leading roles in Hollywood and getting the chance to bring their own projects to life.
She said, “That equals content. That equals actors getting employed and there’s people like me – and a certain generation of women of my age – who are getting really interesting stuff, or going out to find it for themselves, and actually having the ability to get it made.
“I’m loving that,” Catherine remarked.
