Jahangirnagar University (JU) has banned the entry of outsiders to its campus and issued a set of restrictions to ensure a safe habitat for migratory birds ahead of winter.
The directives were announced in a press release signed by Dr Mohammad Mohiuddin, acting director of the university’s Public Relations Office, today (25 October).
According to the press release, migratory birds have started arriving at various water bodies on the campus ahead of winter. The university authorities have already prepared the water bodies to provide a suitable habitat for the birds and ensure their safe movement.
The administration has asked teachers, students and other stakeholders to observe the birds from a safe distance to avoid disturbing them.
The directives prohibit parking vehicles along the banks of water bodies, fishing, playing drums, setting off firecrackers, clapping or making loud noises in the surrounding areas.
The authorities have also prohibited frightening the birds and dumping plastic bottles or polythene into the water bodies.
The university administration has sought the cooperation of all concerned to ensure a safe habitat for the migratory birds.
