Bangladesh has strongly condemned Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia, including on Dammam airport, that caused casualties and injuries, including to two Bangladeshis.
In a press release issued today (23 October), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed heartfelt sympathies to the affected families and solidarity with the Saudi government and people.
Bangladesh also called for an immediate cessation of all attacks and a peaceful resolution of the conflict through diplomacy.
Two Bangladeshi nationals were injured in the attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on 21 October, according to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
The injured were identified as Sajal Chandra Das, of Cumilla’s Muradnagar Upazila, and Mohammad Abdur Rahim, of Noakhali Sadar Upazila.
They are currently receiving treatment at Saudi German Hospital in Dammam, the ministry said in a press release yesterday (22 October).
A representative of the Bangladesh Embassy visited the two at the hospital and enquired after their treatment and condition. They reportedly lost consciousness due to heat and smoke during the attack but sustained no physical injuries.
They are now in stable condition and were able to speak to the embassy representative, according to the press release.
The attack, which killed two people and injured eight others, was the latest in a series of assaults on Saudi infrastructure as conflict intensifies between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed internationally recognised Yemeni government.
