Around 2,000 tourists were stranded on their way back from Sajek Valley in Rangamati’s Baghaichhari this morning after a fresh blockade came into effect on the tourist route.
The tourists left Sajek for Khagrachhari around 9:00am today (22 October) under army and police escort, but their journey was halted around 9:30am due to the blockade called by two regional organisations, reports Prothom Alo.
The Sajek Gono-Odhikar Rokkha Committee and the Sajek Karbari Association yesterday (21 October) announced the third phase of blockade on the Sajek tourist road.
In a statement, the organisations said the blockade would continue indefinitely from today and urged all tourists to leave Sajek by yesterday.
