The Biman Bangladesh Airlines has suspended all flights from Dhaka to Riyadh and Dammam until 17 October in the interest of passenger safety amid ongoing attacks on airports in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement today (13 October), the national flag carrier said the suspension would remain in effect until 17 October (Bangladesh time).
The airline said it would inform passengers of any further decisions regarding the suspended flights and updated schedules in due course.
Passengers needing to travel urgently can use Jeddah and Madinah international airports to travel to Saudi Arabia or return to Bangladesh, the statement read.
For ticketing and other travel-related information, passengers have been advised to contact their nearest Biman sales centre.
Yesterday, Biman suspended all flights from Dhaka to Riyadh until 17 October following the closure of Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport. It also suspended its Dhaka-Dammam flight scheduled for 13 October on security grounds.
Meanwhile, US-Bangla Airlines has suspended all its Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka flights until 21 October following the closure of Riyadh airport amid repeated Houthi attacks.
According to media reports, airport operations have been suspended and resumed several times following a series of attacks originating from Yemen.
The disruptions have affected air connectivity between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, creating uncertainty for passengers travelling between the two countries.
