The Department of Youth Development (DYD) has rescheduled the recruitment test for assistant upazila youth development officer posts for 16 October after it was suspended right before the exam following allegations of question paper leaks.
In a press release issued today (10 October), the department said the examination, which was scheduled to be held at 11am today, was postponed after reports of question paper leaks circulated on various social media platforms before the test.
The next date for the examination has been provisionally set for 3pm on 16 October, the release said. Candidates will be informed of the rescheduled examination through SMS.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has formed a five-member committee, headed by an additional secretary of the ministry, to investigate the leak allegations.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within three working days. Disciplinary action will be taken against those found responsible after the report is received, the press release added.
Earlier, the candidates staged protests and blocked several roads across Dhaka over the incidents. They said they had already taken their seats at examination centres when invigilators announced the suspension.
Some also claimed that question papers had been distributed before the decision was made. The department said it had received reports that question papers had circulated on social media after being delivered to examination centres.
The sudden cancellation angered candidates, many of whom had travelled long distances to sit for the test. They blocked major roads and intersections across Dhaka, including Shahbagh, Nilkhet, Manik Mia Avenue, Sat Masjid Road and areas near Bangla College and Khilgaon, disrupting traffic and demanding answers over the alleged leak.
Around 3,19,000 candidates were expected to compete for 242 posts at 95 examination centres across Dhaka.
