Bangladesh and Türkiye have discussed developing cost-effective power solutions, including affordable floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and heavy fuel oil (HFO) supplies, as the two countries seek to deepen cooperation in the power and energy sector.
The discussion took place when Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Şen called on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood at the Bangladesh Secretariat today (8 October).
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly cooperation in the power and energy sector, according to a press release from the ministry.
The minister emphasised the need to explore affordable and sustainable energy solutions to facilitate the operation of the country’s idle power generation facilities and strengthen overall energy security.
The Turkish ambassador was accompanied by Bilal Belyurt, commercial counsellor of the Embassy of Türkiye in Dhaka, and Karpowership officials Jad El Sebaaly, Asli Kilic and Emma Wahlberg.
During the meeting, the Turkish delegation expressed interest in meeting officials of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources at the earliest opportunity to present its proposal in detail and explore ways to support Bangladesh’s energy security sustainably and efficiently.
