Aircraft and personnel from Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka flew together in a ‘Vic’ formation over Rajasthan during the multinational air exercise Tarang Shakti 2026, highlighting operational cooperation and interoperability among the three neighbouring countries.
The three countries’ aircraft flew in formation during the second week of the exercise amid complex air combat simulations, according to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Hosted by the Indian Air Force, the exercise began on 26 September and is being held at Air Force Station Jodhpur and adjoining air bases in Rajasthan. It will continue until 12 October.
The exercise has seen an increasing operational tempo, moving from initial small-force engagements to large-force operations, the statement said.
“Partner countries came together to share their experiences, best practices and operational knowledge,” the High Commission said.
Besides India, seven foreign countries — Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh — are participating in the exercise. Participating aircraft include the US F-35 Lightning II, French Rafale, UAE F-16, Airbus A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and Australia’s KC-30A, bringing together combat, airlift and air-to-air refuelling capabilities.
Tarang Shakti 2026 is the second edition of the Indian Air Force’s multinational exercise. It focuses on joint training, operational learning, interoperability and the exchange of expertise among participating air forces.
